Events tailored for age groups

The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is very excited to announce the 3nd Annual YMCA Kids Triathlon! This triathlon will be for kids ages 5-17 years of age and consist of swimming, biking and running.

Triathlons, once thought to be the domain of the super fit few, have been growing in popularity. People of all ages and abilities are participating in triathlons all over the country. Youth races have become quite popular in recent years as kids see their parents participating in these events.

It is the goal of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana to offer this exciting opportunity for our youth in Evansville and the surrounding area.

Safety Check In

Participant's bikes will be inspected for safety at check in. Things to be checked include:

  • all brakes are in good working order
  • the bicycle is securely assembled
  • the handlebars are mounted in a safe orientation
  • both handlebar ends are securely plugged
  • both wheels spin true
  • tires show no sign of wearing through or deterioration and are properly inflated
  • chain adjusted to proper tension
  • no accessories added to the bike that the inspector could deem as hazardous

Bikes MUST pass the safety check before they will be allowed on the race course. Since there will be little to no opportunity to correct some of the deficiencies, it is STRONGLY recommended that the bicycle be inspected by a trained bicycle technician at your favorite bike shop BEFORE race day.
