Race Times

All participants must attend mandatory prerace meeting at 7:30am CST.

Race begins at 8:00am CST.

Location

We have teamed up with Warrick County and have picked a terrific venue for our event. Scales Lake Park, located in Boonville, has 479 acres of mostly wooded property as well as a 66 acre lake. In existence since the 1940s, their services have grown to include a 100 site campground, a swimming beach with waterslides, a petting zoo with free-roaming animals, numerous picnic areas and cabin rental.

Directions: From Evansville, take East Morgan Ave/IN-62 East into Boonville. Turn left onto IN-61/South 3rd Street then Turn right onto East Poplar Street. East Poplar Street becomes West Tennyson Road. Continue to 800 West Tennyson Road.

Course Information

Sprint: swim 0.5 mile, mountain bike 11 miles, trail run 3.3 miles.
XTERRA America Tour points are only offered for this Sprint course.

Super Sprint: swim 0.5 mile, mountain bike 5.5 miles, trail run 3.3 miles.

This event will take place along wooded trails. Sections of the bike and run course will be steep and rugged, with rocks and roots in many sections. Race distances and conditions are approximate and subject to change pending weather conditions.

Registration

Entries will be limited to first 200.

  • $70 per individual before June 12th
  • $80 per individual after June 12th

  • $130 per team after June 12th

This is a USAT-sanctioned event (USAT members get a $10 discount - you must present your membership card and a photo ID at packet pickup).

Participants must be 15 by Dec 31, 2010.

Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up will take place at the Dunigan Family YMCA Friday, June 25 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, or race day from 6:00-7:00am. All participants must present photo ID at packet pick-up.

Team Relay

Not sure if you want to TRI it alone? Put together a team! A team can consist of 2 or 3 participants, either all male, all female, or co-ed. Each team member does a leg of the race. Each team member must submit a registration form, and all registration forms must be sent in together.

Awards

Awards will be presented to both individuals and teams, in both distance categories. Awards will also be given to athletes who are competing in the challenged athlete division. The top 3 teams will receive awards. Overall male and female finishers will receive special awards. Age group awards will be given to the top 3 men and women finishers in each category and distance as listed:

15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+,
**No participants under age 15**

Awards presentation begins at approximately 11:00am. Post-race celebration will be provided for participants and volunteers. Race results will be available online.

USAT Sanctioned

Swim caps will be provided. Wetsuits will not be permitted unless water temperature is 72° or below. Approved helmets must be worn during biking portion. Mountain bikes are recommended for this course. Those using hybrids or another type of bike may not be able to complete the course. Chip timing will be provided by Mattoon Multi-sport Champion Chip Timing Co.

History

The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is very excited to offer an XTERRA. An XTERRA consists of an open water swim, a mountain bike and a trail run.

Triathlons - once thought to be the domain of the super fit few - have been growing in popularity. People of all ages and abilities are participating in triathlons all over the country.

XTERRA's have become quite popular in recent years as more and more people are looking for ways to challenge themselves beyond the typical weekend walk or run.

It is the goal of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana to offer this exciting opportunity for fitness enthusiasts and beginners in Evansville and the surrounding area.

The XTERRA Scales Lake is an association-wide event. The funds generated from the triathlon will significantly increase the number of children, youth and families who have the opportunity to experience the extraordinary impact of the following programs: Y-CAP, Diamonds, Swim Lessons, Swim Team, Soccer, Basketball, Midnight Basketball, Youth and Government, Life Skills, After School Rocks (Drug Prevention), Healthy Kids Day, Preschool, Before and After School Childcare, Summer Day Camp, Preschool Sports, Kid's Night Out, Tumbling, Family Night, Fit Kids, Various Senior programs, Adult Wellness Programs, CPR, and Nutrition Classes.
