Please read the following information carefully and be aware of the following document.
USAT 2007 Most Commonly Violated Rules & Penalties (pdf 29kb)Packet Pick-up - YOU MUST BRING A PICTURE ID TO RECEIVE YOUR RACE PACKET! You may not have someone else pick this up for you. Friday, August 15th at the Dunigan Family YMCA from 5-8pm or Saturday, August 16th at the corner of Zoar Church and Boonville New-Harmony from 6-7am (You will receive your race number, wave number, swim cap, t-shirt and goodie bag during packet pick-up.)
Body Marking and Chip Distribution - Everyone must go through "body marking" in which we will be writing your race information on your body with a marker- please bring your race packet with you. Once your body is marked, you will proceed to chip distribution. Chips will be on a neoprene band that you will wear on your ankle throughout the race- as you exit the finish shoot we will collect these from you.
Transition Area - There is one transition area in which you will use between each leg of the race (there are no changing tents). The time you spend in the transition is counted towards your total race time. Only 'body marked" athletes are allowed in this barricaded area- this is where you will rack your bike (first come; first served). Please collect your items by 11:30am, as the transition area will be closed.
Parking - When you arrive, you will be greeted by a parking attendant. There will be 3 places to park: -on the corner field of Zoar Church and New Harmony Roads (for athletes/volunteers) -inside the campground along the rock roads (for spectators) -on both sides of North Zoar Church Road (for spectators)
Road Closure - Please be aware that Zoar Church Road will be closed from Fisherville Road to Boonville New-Harmony Road from 7:30am-11:30am
Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting - All athletes are required to attend the 7:30am pre-race meeting near the tents. In this meeting we will go over safety considerations, rules and specific race information.
Swim Practice - The lake will be open from 7-7:25am this year for you to warm up.
Swim - A swim cap will be provided to you and is required to enter the water. The start of the race will begin at 8am in waves of 50-75 athletes at 3 minutes apart. You will know what wave you are in when you pick up your packet. The course is a loop going clockwise marked by orange buoys. Fins, hand paddles and snorkels are prohibited. We will have boats and lifeguards inside the loop for safety.
Bike - The 19 mile loop bike course may not have a fluid station, so be sure to bring your own water for this portion. Be sure to have your race number as you exit the transition area. Please be aware that NO drafting is allowed and you must wear a cycling helmet with a fastened chin strap before you get on the bike. Tandem and recumbent bikes are not allowed. Headphones/earbuds are also prohibited.
Run - There will be a water station in the transition area for the start of the run, and several along the course. The finish will be on the corner of Zoar Church and Boonville-New Harmony Road. You must wear your race number in front.
Teams - All team members must go through packet pick-up and body marking. The bike and run members will be stationed in the transition area at the bike rack. Team members must tag one another at the rack before leaving the transition area.
Timing and Results - New this year- chip timing. Results will be posted. They will provide split times for each portion, as well as your overall time. Please be patient; your times will be posted as soon as they are available at the race site and also race day at http://www.evansvilleymcatriathlon.org/previous.php.
SAG Wagon and Medical - Gilles Cycling and Fitness will provide bike assistance during the race. We will have a medical station on the bike, an ambulance, a medical trailer and EMTs available all day.
Post Race - There will be food, Gatorade, water and iced towels available for athletes after the race.
Kid's Run - The Southern Indiana Triathlon Team is hosting a Kid's Run. Carry, stroll, walk or run- this is a free quarter mile run for kids ages 0-14. It begins at 10:30am and registration is race day only! All kid's will receive a medal.
Awards Ceremony and Post Race Celebration - This will begin around 11am near the tents. Pasta and sorbet will be provided for all race participants. Stick around and celebrate with us!
